F. Lynn Leverett, M.D., a native of Lubbock, Texas, graduated from Texas Tech University and then from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.
She completed a rotating internship at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. and then migrated to Miami to do a residency in Pathology at Jackson/University of Miami in Miami, Florida. She has resided in Miami ever since. She was on the faculty at U.of M. for four years before joining a former colleague in private practice at South Miami Hospital. Dr. Leverett specialized in Hematology Coagulation and Immunohematology, in addition to doing routine surgical pathology. Many years ago she took a course at the University of Miami that introduced her to the natural wonders of South Florida…life changing for a dry land Texan. Since then she has become very interested in native plants, palms, orchids, ferns, birds and butterflies and vanishing species. These interests led her to Fairchild Garden where she met Caroline Lewis and became a supporter of the Fairchild Challenge. Dr. Leverett continues to be inspired by Caroline’s passion for the environment, and the respect that she has for her many teachers and adoring students. She is committed to the CLEO Institute because of her continued concern for the world in which we live.
