A Century of Sea Level Rise

IMG 1524July 19, 2017: Over 80 people joined The CLEO Institute at Vizcaya for an interactive panel on sea level rise. Recognizing that sea level rise has implications for more than just Vizcaya and its visitors, a varied group of speakers joined the panel to share how they are addressing SLR in their own lives and work. The panelists included our own Caroline Lewis, artist Lucinda Linderman, Vizcaya's Dr. Mark Osterman, and fellow CLEO Leadership Circle members Ricardo Alvarez, mitigation specialist, and Dr. Tiffany Troxler from FIU's Sea Level Solutions Center. Moderated by Katie Hagemann from Miami Dade County's Office of Resilience, the panel provided various perspectives on both the impacts and solutions of sea level rise. The panel also encouraged the crowd to consider what they can do, collectively and individually, to respond to sea level rise specifically and influence what those in the next 100 years will find when we're gone.
