Miami, FL – The CLEO Institute proudly announces VoLo Foundation and Miami-Dade County Public Schools as recipients of the DR. F. LYNN LEVERETT ‘CIRCLE OF CHANGE’ AWARD. This esteemed accolade recognizes their exceptional commitment to addressing the climate crisis and fostering innovative, sustainable solutions for future generations.

Co-founded by the visionary duo, Thais Lopez Vogel & David S. Vogel, VoLo Foundation seamlessly aligned with our mission of fostering climate literacy and advocacy throughout the state. Their partnership has not only broadened our reach and magnified our impact, but has propelled the climate movement resonating now across Florida. “We review meaningful data sets that predict future climate risk outcomes to accelerate positive global change. The incredibly talented team at CLEO has really helped increase our mission impact. They take the data and give it life and legs to stand on by educating all people to vote and take action for a cleaner tomorrow,” said the Vogels. Thais also said, “There is no future without environmental education. CLEO is the organization that best understands and applies my vision for the future”.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) unwavering commitment to addressing the climate crisis in the last couple of years has been pivotal in advancing meaningful climate action across the county and the school system. “By giving our students the world, we are empowering our students to protect it”, said Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jose L. Dotres. M-DCPS’s visionary leadership has propelled the community to be more sustainable and resilient in the face of rising sea levels, temperatures, and increasingly more devastating storms.

Named after CLEO’s founding advisor, Dr. F. Lynn Leverett, this award symbolizes the enduring legacy of change champions. Previous recipients, including The Honorable Kathy Castor, Project Drawdown, and the Invading Sea have impacted our collective future.

“It is with deep honor that we present VoLo Foundation and Miami-Dade County Public Schools with the DR. F. LYNN LEVERETT ‘CIRCLE OF CHANGE’ AWARD,” said Yoca Arditi-Rocha, CLEO’s Executive Director. “Their unwavering dedication to climate action and environmental literacy serves as a beacon of hope for our community, inspiring us all to work harder towards a more sustainable and resilient future for our children.”

Join us for CLEO’s Annual Celebration, an EARTH DAY Soirée to Illuminate Climate Pathways and celebrate climate achievements in our community, on April 24, 2024. It’s not only an opportunity to support CLEO’s vital climate education and action initiatives but also a way to celebrate the remarkable progress in our community and inspire even greater strides towards a sustainable future.
