The world needs a massive effort to reverse global warming, protect humanity, and the natural world from collapse. Declaring a Climate Emergency is a critical first step. Governments representing 800+ million people have declared Climate Emergency, but we must continue pushing local governments and Congress to recognize the emergency the climate crisis poses and take urgent action. The CLEO Institute together with Climate Mobilization has hosted several training sessions for its members to help them become better speakers when engaging with elected officials and advocate for solutions that will reverse the environmental breakdown and protect our future. The CLEO Institute, through its GenCLEO youth empowerment advocacy group, has been able to secure 8 Climate Emergency Declarations in Florida including the City of Miami Beach, City of Miami, the City of Coral Gables, Village of Surfside, Town of Cutler Bay, Orlando, Palmetto Bay and North Bay Village.
